Is “Give it away, give it away now!” really a good idea? We share our knowledge by blogging and being helpful; it does not pay the bills, but it can indirectly market our services. How to draw the line between giving away free ideas and possibly attracting more paid clients?
Sheila, as always, brought humor and whit to her discussion of what to do when people want tap into your knowledge and expertise. She spoke to a full house, sharing stories of how she learned how to not “give away the farm” over a casual coffee.
Sheila Scarborough is a writer, speaker and consultant specializing in travel, tourism and social media. She’s freelanced since 2006, writes for three different blogs and is also a certified Navy Master Training Specialist, with many years of experience as an instructor. Sheila trains and speaks regularly about social media to a variety of audiences, including journalists, public relations and marketing professionals, tourism and economic development experts and Web developers.
She is also the co-founder Tourism Currents, an online learning community and membership site where tourism professionals learn how to use social media tools for their destination marketing.
