Freelancers and other small business owners, do you need help with the business side of your workload? Could you use resources like demographic reports or invoice templates? Maybe a class on copyright law, Quickbooks or disaster recovery?
Join Freelance Austin to hear Joy Miller from the City of Austin's Small Business Development Program (and super WCA member) explain how you can connect with free and low-cost city programs, classes and support.
Joy Miller has a healthy business background with a wide variety of experience. She has sold insurance, been a recruiter, resolved third step grievances with a union president, managed a call center, and headed up many production work groups including a graphic design team for a major yellow pages publisher. Along the way, she opened a small gift boutique, Gifts of Joy, where she learned first-hand the struggles of the entrepreneurial world. A native Tennessean, Joy moved to Austin in January 2009 to be with her new husband who loves his career as a marketing professor at the University of Texas.
Currently, Joy is the Marketing and Outreach Coordinator for the City of Austin’s Small Business Development Program. In this role she has broad exposure to all aspects of marketing and outreach, creating ad campaigns, slogans, public service announcements, training classes, and public speaking, ensuring that Austin small business owners are made aware of the vast resources available to them. She most treasures the connections she makes with entrepreneurial-minded individuals and feels blessed to do work she loves.
